Tanoa and The Promontory are two of the newest master-planned communities in Evergreen. Turn-of-the-century modern homes were custom or semi-custom built. Many include big bay windows, gas fireplaces, spacious rooms, chef’s kitchens, and sundecks. Both neighborhoods are adjacent to Elk Meadow Open Space, where you can spot herds of elk and other wildlife making their way through. Residents have easy access to 14 miles of nature trails, and the vistas are especially stunning when the leaves change colors in the fall.

Homes in Tanoa were built high on the ridge and have sweeping mountain views. They are close to all the retail shops and restaurants in downtown Evergreen. Homes at The Summit are within a gated enclave and offer views of Mt. Evans. Homes at The Promontory were built between 1995 and 2006 and offer views of Elk Meadow. Residents are conveniently close to Wulf Recreation Center and Hiwan Golf Club.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Tanoa and The Promontory are all residential. Tanoa residents usually head towards Evergreen Lake and downtown Evergreen for shopping, dining, and recreation. Willow Creek restaurant is a small, family-owned restaurant offering American fare and lakeside views. Bistro de Llago serves homemade pasta and flatbreads. Their classy high-top tables are surrounded by walls with carefully-curated street art. 
 
Tuscany Tavern is across Evergreen Parkway from The Promontory. They serve traditional Italian fare and have banquet rooms available for private events. Parkside Café Evergreen is a great choice for breakfast or lunch, and they have a spacious patio. 

On Main Street, Bait Shack Tavern is a local favorite for quick bites and casual eats. Murphy’s Mountain Grill serves upscale bar fare and hand-muddled cocktails. Creekside Cellars is a wine club and restaurant with a library and small-batch wines. The Muddy Buck Café serves gourmet coffee and freshly made pastries from the lobby of the historic Evergreen Hotel.

Residents can also head towards Bergen Parkway. The Woodcellar bar and grill has daily specials and live music on weekends. There are retail stores, cafes, and restaurants at the Bergen Village Shopping Center, including Hearthfire Books and Treats, Ridge Fine Art, Mountain Daisy, and Evergreen Bread and Cocktail Lounge.  

Easy Entrees by Silver Spoons has ready-made gourmet meal kits for pick-up and delivery. Evergreen Farmers Market features fresh produce, craft vendors, and baked goods. It’s located at Boone Mountain Sports on Tuesdays.
 

Things to Do 

Those who enjoy the outdoors are attracted to living in Tanoa and the Promontory. Elk Meadow Park has a network of nature trails. There’s one that starts at the Stagecoach Boulevard Trailhead and takes you to Bergen Peak. The 4.7-mile hike is rated as difficult but worth the views you’ll get at 9,700 feet. 

Wulf Recreation Center has an indoor pool, tennis and volleyball courts, a skate park, and a dance studio. The neighborhoods are also close to Hiwan Golf Club, where members have access to an 18 hole golf course, sport facilities, an outdoor pool, and fitness classes. Evergreen Golf Course is a public 18-hole executive course along Bear Creek. 

Evergreen Lake House offers boat rentals and hosts Easter egg hunts and the Summer Concert Series. In the winter, Evergreen Lake freezes and is used for ice skating and hockey. Breckenridge and Winter Park are an hour away and offer world-class skiing.
