At over 7,000 feet above sea level, Hiwan Hills has spectacular views of snow-capped Mt Evans. Classic homes were built from 1950 onwards in a mix of ranch-style, prairie, and mid-century modern architecture. Most have been remodeled with designer flooring, upgraded kitchens, new sundecks, and contemporary accents while retaining their historic architecture. Newer homes feature high vaulted ceilings, open floor plans, modern gas fireplaces, and even rooftop penthouses.

The Hiwan Hills neighborhood is within walking distance of shops and restaurants. It’s conveniently located close to downtown Evergreen and Lake Evergreen, where there are plenty of outdoor entertainment options and live concerts. It’s right off the I-74 and a quick 30-minute commute to Denver. In Hiwan Hills, residents get the beautiful mountain setting without giving up amenities.

Locals come here often for happy hour and scenic outdoor seating. Creekside Cellars is a hometown winery serving charcuterie boards and antipasto platters with their wines. 

For coffee, Muddy Buck has gourmet coffee, and Java Groove offers smoothies and light eats. For desserts, there’s a Baskin-Robbins and the family-run Alpine Pastries, a bakery that specializes in wedding cakes, European pastries, and handmade chocolates. Seasonally Yours and Mountain Man Fruit and Nut is a gift shop selling candy, toys, souvenirs, and holiday items.

You’ll find unique shops in downtown Evergreen. Sweetwater Boutique and Sweet Hayden Boutique have unique women’s wear and accessories. Evergreen Angel sells handmade jewelry and gifts. 

The Evergreen Gallery showcases local artists and sells beautiful one-of-a-kind items. Outbound Mountain Gear specializes in mountain bikes and outdoor gear. There are also two florists in town, Stems a Flower Shop and The Holly Berry

For home furnishings, Mountain Home sells handcrafted furniture, artsy decor, and rustic woodsy accents, and Bain Lake Antiques has a quaint collection of home goods. On Tuesdays, Evergreen Farmers Market sells fresh local produce and baked goods.

Things to Do 

Perfect for outdoor lovers, Hiwan Hills is next to some of the best hiking and mountain biking in the area. Elk Meadow Park has nature trails, picnic tables, and protected areas for wildlife. Hiwan Heritage Park houses a museum surrounded by green space, and Dedisse Park is a great location for lakeside picnics. 

If you want to take in a performance, Ovation West Performance Center has events and concerts year-round. There are also several not-to-miss annual events in downtown Evergreen. Evergreen Rodeo hosts a grand rodeo weekend every summer, complete with performances and a parade. The Dam Ducky Derby draws over 3,500 spectators, and the Annual Turkey Trot helps raise funds for the community.
